(DEWEY BEACH, Del.) – Pet lovers in Sussex County “unleashed” their creative sides Thursday night during a ‘Pet Lovers DIY Night’ hosted by the Dewey Artist Collaboration and Dewey Beer Co.
“We do a lot of stuff for humans, so we thought we would really push ourselves outside of our boundaries and try to make functional artwork,” explained Leah Beach, Founder and President of the Dewey Artist Collaboration.
Beach says although this is only the group’s second Pet Lovers DIY Night, they hope to make it a regular event.
"Once we open our warehouse in West Rehoboth, we're going to offer these [classes] weekly. So you can come in with a group of girlfriends, bring a bottle of wine, you can make a dog leash or a cat scratcher, or you can make a succulent garden or a bottle opener, you can have as much fun as you want,” said Beach.
But that’s not all; Beach says extra homemade dog leashes and cat scratch posts made Thursday night will be donated to Grass Roots Rescue.
"We’re giving back to a community to pets that are looking for a home, as well as giving people opportunities to come and make something for their furry friends instead of just something to hang on their wall,” said Beach.
Beach says the next Pet Lovers DIY Night will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 6 at Big Oyster Brewery in Lewes. For more information, visit the Dewey Artist Collaboration Facebook page at www.facebook.com/deweyartistcollab.
