New York man arrested following Pursuit

(Georgetown, Del) - A New York man has been arrested following a pursuit in Georgetown.
Early Saturday morning, February 17, 2018, Georgetown Police observed a moving violation and attempted to conduct a vehicle stop on Dupont Boulevard. The vehicle failed to stop and drove through the parking lot of Royal Farms before returning to Dupont Boulevard northbound. It then traveled northbound on Dupont Boulevard at a high rate of speed. While attempting to evade police, the vehicle entered onto the southbound lanes of Dupont Boulevard and continued northbound in the wrong direction. The driver attempted to cross the grass median just south of Beach Highway at which time he lost control. The vehicle came to a rest in the median and the driver exited then ran westbound from the scene. Officers located and took custody of the driver without incident.

A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of drugs and firearms. Georgetown Police recovered the following items from the vehicle; 3.98 grams of marijuana, 12.74 grams of crack cocaine, 33.45 grams of Heroin, 52 Oxycodone pills and $5713.00 in cash.
Georgetown Police recovered a New Frontier Armory .223 rifle, a loaded Taurus 38 special revolver, a loaded Smith and Wesson 9mm revolver, a Glock 40 caliber handgun, and an FMK 9mm handgun. Several boxes of ammunition were also located inside the vehicle.

40 year-old Dakwan Taylor, of Brooklyn, NY was arrested for 5 counts of Possession of a Firearm During Commission of a Felony, 6 counts of Possession of a Firearm of Ammunition by a Person Prohibited, 2 counts of Possession of a Weapon with a Removed Serial Number, Disregarding a Police Officers Signal, Possession of Marijuana, Criminal Mischief Over $1000.00, Resisting Arrest, Leaving the Scene of a Property Collision Accident, Reckless Driving, Driving without a License, Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Device, Inattentive Driving, Failure to use a turn signal, Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Tier 5 Quantity, 3 counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Tier 2 quantity.
Taylor was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $493,000 cash bond.
