SALISBURY, Md.) - April 13 is now a holiday in Salisbury in honor of the Perdue Farms chicken plant that's been located there for 50 years.

"That's 50 years of incomes," says Mayor Jake Day. "That's 50 years of mortgage payments in our community, that's 50 years of jobs."

Arthur and Frank Perdue created the company 98 years ago. In 2020 the company's 100 year anniversary will be celebrated.

"Perdue continues to disrupt the industry, which we announced we're 100% no antibiotics ever now. We're elevated in how we raise our chickens and also we raise more organic chickens now with outdoor access than any other company in the U.S.A." says company chairman Jim Perdue.
