DEWEY BEACH, Del.- The town of Dewey Beach is looking for creative ways to save money and increase revenue.
On Friday, the town's Budget and Finance Committee met to brainstorm ideas on how to up Dewey's cash flow. Mayor T.J. Redefer says while the town is breaking even, more money is needed to help fund long-neglected projects
"If we are going to develop new revenue streams, we could do things for infrastructure," he says. "We could do more for stormwater management and right now we are doing everything we can to survive."
Redefer says one idea is a potential tax on hotels, though the idea is in the very early stages.
"I am not for or against kind of new tax but bringing people together," he says. "Coming up with great new ideas. Seeing what will work and won't work is what a good government should we trying to do everyday."
