(FRUITLAND, Md.) - Construction is back on to complete the Morris Mill Dam rehabilitation project in Wicomico County. Crews are strengthening the dam to protect against a washout of the road. Other improvements will be made as well.
Construction was put on hold in November after the contractor discovered water seeping through the dam soil.
County Public Works Director Dallas Baker says plans had to be revised to address that issue.
However, Baker says he thinks crews are still on track to complete the project by the original September end date.
"The original plans called for us not doing any work between March and June but the department of envirnoment recognized the cicumstances with this dam and is allowing us to work during that time period," says Baker.
While construction is underway, a part of South Division Street between Morris Mill Road and Emily Drive is closed in Fruitland.
