Buck Britton Is Named The Shorebirds New Manager Updated: Jan 27, 2018 12:12 AM
(SALISBURY, MD.)- This year the Delmarva Shorebirds have a new manager.
It is Buck Britton the brother of Baltimore Orioles closer Zack Britton. Buck was the Shorebirds hitting instructor last year. That announcement was made at the 17th Annual Delmarva Shorebirds Hot Stove Banquet at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center.
"I am kind of in charge of everything and everything that happen will have my name attached to it so it is going to be about being organized and have all my coaches on the same page," said Britton.
Britton once played in the minors with Mychal Givens who was one of the speakers at the event. Givens got to see another familiar face.
" And Ryan Minor was my manager in my career and to be able to be around those guys and to be able to accomplish a lot with those guys it has been a really good thing," said Givens.
It was a good thing that the fans had a lot of silent auctions items to bid on at the event. Bitters said why this event is so unique.
The O's have supported the event and to be able to get players like Mychal Givens, and we have had Dan Duquette and Buck Showalter recently.
James Thomas has been a longtime Baltimore Oriole fan.Thomas attended the event for the first time.
"I love the O's since I could say O and I love it down here now being around the baby birds," said Thomas.
The Shorebirds and Buck Britton will open up the season April 5th at home against Asheville. The game starts at 7:05 P.M.
