Getting Closer To State Championship

(Berlin, MD.)- Coach BJ Johnson and the Stephen Decatur Seahawks are flying high and just two wins away from claiming a state championship.

"The kids have been working extremely hard and their goal has been working hard to make it to the X Finity Center and I give all the credit to the kids for just coming in and putting in the time I am so happy for them to experience this," said Coach Johnson.

"There is a purpose that we are here and this time I feel like we are going to go get it and a lot of people doubted us and nobody projected us to be anyway near going to the state-semis and we are now."

But first, the Seahawks will have to get through Baltimore Poly in the state Semi-finals on Thursday.

"We are taking it one day at a time and we review and we are going to go out there and play our game and play Decatur basketball."

Senior Kevon Voyles is in his final season and has grown into a passionate leader.

"I have been apart of the team and contributed but this year has pushed me to become the leader that he knew I always could have been from when I first got here and I put countless hours in the gym and in the summertime and it has paid off.

This will be Voyles 3rd opportunity to win a championship and he would love nothing more than go out as a state champ.
