(Newark, Del.) -Bilal Nichols is the latest University Of Delaware Football Player to possibly be drafted from the First State. Nichols has been working hard to accomplish his dream of playing in the NFL.
"A lot of the drills that I learned is from NFL coaches and I take those drills and emulate those and I am perfecting my craft and technique," said Nichols.
His Former Coach Danny Rocco said his nose guard has what it takes
to make it to the next level. Rocco said he has a good combination of size and speed.
Rocco coached Nichols for one year at the Unversity Of Delaware.
"He can fit into any of the systems and that is the beauty of it and some players are chiseled in a few different styles but every team is not a candidate for them but I think for Bilal has that kind of versatility that nobody is going to say he cannot help us,"said Coach Rocco.
Nichols production increased with the first year Head Coach Rocco as he had a career-high 5.5 sacks.Nichols played four seasons at UD and was a co-captain this year.
The defensive tackle credits coach Rocco for him improving. At Nichols NFL Pro Day there were more than 20 scouts that were checking him out.
"It was an awesome experience and definitely humbling and really grateful for the opportunity and very appreciative of everything I have been able to do," said Nichols.
Some draft experts said Nichols will hear his name called in the late to mid-rounds but his former Coach has some advice for him.
"So there is no definitive formula, timeline or expectation, expect the unexpected and when something happens to be ready to respond accordingly," said Coach Rocco.
The NFL draft will be held from April 26th until the 28th.
