(DOVER, Del.) -William Bryon is the reigning Xfinity Series Champion. This year he is taking on a new challenge. Bryon loves to race and this year he is in his first year in the Monster Energy Nascar Series.
He is getting the opportunity to drive the iconic 24.
"We have had some good results and it has been good and it is a cool thing for the fans to have and it is cool to be in the car and drive it," said Bryon.
Donald Houghtaling from New Jersey was a Jeff Gordon fan and is now rooting for the twenty-year-old Bryon. Houghtaling was elated when Bryon signed an item for him.
"And having him sign my hat was really special for me because I have seen him sign autographs before but never had the chance to get one signed," said Houghtaling.
Bryon is familiar with the track and says the Monster Mile is very challenging.
"It is tough and physically demanding and a difficult race track on the car and everyone really and a difficult race track to get a hold of and I like coming here and if you hit it right it is a lot of fun," said Bryon.
Bryon is dealing with this new experience with his fellow teammates Chase Elliott, Jimmie Johnson, and Alex Bowman. Bowman says he is impressed with how Bryon is handling his rookie season.
"Really how far he takes it watching race tape and how well he asks questions and lean on everybody around him and it is easy to be shy and maybe not lean on Jimmie Johnson as much as you could or not watch as much race tapes as he does but he tackles every aspect for sure,"said Bowman.
