(DOVER, Del.) -The Wesley College family is mourning the loss of their beloved Coach Mike Drass. For 25 years Mike Drass built the Wesley program into a Division III winner. He led his team to 14 NCAA Tournament berths. Drass passed away at the age of 57.
Freshmen football player Shymere Vessels was shocked when he heard the news
"For a couple of hours I cried and I just did not want to believe that it happened," said Vessels.
His Assistant Coach/Wide Receivers Steve Azzanesi said Drass was a great guy.
Azzanesi also played for Coach Drass.
"He has been in my life for the last twenty-three years so he meant a lot to me and not just as my coach but as one of my best friends and mentors," said Azzanesi.
Vessels said it is time for the team to go to work and Coach Drass would want a national championship and we are going to get it for him", said Vessels.
