SALISBURY, Md. - Abby Mace, a graduate student at Salisbury University, broke the school's home run record over the weekend during a match against Ursinus. She hit her 53rd career home run towards left center field in the second inning.

Mace, a Smyrna native, has been dubbed the "Home Run Queen" and was named the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.

Mace batted .727 across four games throughout the weekend, when the sea gulls faced Ursinus and York in double headers. She drove in eight runs and scored 10 of her own.

She now leads the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference and is ranked third in the nation with 10 home runs so far this year, averaging one nearly every other game. She also leads the nation in runs per game and slugging percentage.

Sea Gulls softball returns for senior day on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. against Mary Washington. Mace will be honored along with seniors and graduate students Lauren Meyers, Nicole Ortega, Natalie Paoli and Meghan Reed.
