Paul Williams Headshot 2023

Paul Williams serves as the chief meteorologist at CoastTV, delivering weather forecasts during the 5, 6, and 11 p.m. broadcasts. As a key member of the Draper Media storm tracker weather team, he provides crucial emergency weather information to help safeguard the community. Paul is not only recognized with the American Meteorological Society's Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Television seal of approval but also stands out as the 6th person in the country to achieve the Certified Digital Meteorologist designation from the same society, marking a pinnacle in his 40 years of forecasting experience.

Craig Jahelka, president of Draper Media, praises Paul's contributions: "People on Delmarva can rely on Paul for an accurate and engaging weather forecast. His extensive forecasting experience, spanning three decades, and his bilingual communication skills make him an invaluable asset to our NBC and Telemundo affiliates."

Paul's educational background is comprehensive, holding a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology and a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications with a minor in physics from Jackson State University, alongside a Bachelor of Science in Bible and Counseling from Magnolia Bible College.

Previously, Paul was the senior meteorologist for AccuWeather in State College, Pa., where he led weather coverage for the AccuWeather network across over 60 markets, including ABC's World News Now. He has also served as the chief meteorologist for LOCAL 24 in Memphis, Tenn., and had a notable tenure at WLBT-TV3 in Jackson, Miss., from 1999-2014, during which he covered the catastrophic Hurricane Katrina.

Choosing to return to Mississippi to raise his three daughters, Paul aimed to provide stability during their crucial years. This decision followed his initial role as chief meteorologist at FOX61 in Hartford, Conn., in the late 1990s. His career also includes experience as a weekend morning meteorologist for KSDK-TV NEWSCHANNEL 5, where he reported during significant flooding events in the early '90s.

Paul's personal life is filled with joy, especially when spending time with his two grandsons, affectionately known as Paw-pop. He is also a dedicated advocate and spokesperson for prostate cancer awareness and the American Heart Association.

Expressing his enthusiasm for his role, Paul says, "Joining the CoastTV team is an honor. It offers me the opportunity to not just be part of the community but to serve it with the extensive experience I've gained over the years. I'm excited to engage with the team and the wider community."
