Democrat MD House 1 Forume

SNOW HILL, Md - While Democrat candidates for Maryland's U.S. House District One have subtle differences on policy, both Heather Mizeur and David Harden both are in agreement on Republican incumbent Andy Harris.

"I have been endorsed by Democrats Independents and Republicans alike putting the unity coalition together to defeat Andy Harris," Mizeur said.

"I am a moderate and this a rural conservative district" said Harden. "We have to beat Andy Harris and it is not going to be progressive and it's not going to be a far left politician, it is going to be a moderate."

Guns was one of the topics both addressed at a Tuesday night  forum sponsored by the town's Chamber of Commerce with Mizeur stating she is a gun owner and has used it to take shots near a fox to scare it away from her Chestertown farm.

Harden's approach is to emphasize safety and permits.

Mizeur is a former two-term member of the House of Delegates. She represented  Montgomery County from 2007-2015.

Harden is seeking his first elected position. Early voting in Maryland begins Thursday July 7 and runs until July 14. Primary election day is July 19.
