Slam Dunk To The Beach brings boost to local business

LEWES, Del.- The annual Slam Dunk To The Beach basketball tournament returned to Cape Henlopen High School Tuesday night.

The annual event brings a boost to the local economy as people from all over the country come to watch and participate.

"It brings a lot of people to town it fills the hotels up it you know people go to restaurants, they buy gasoline, they go to the outlet mall," said Dewey Beach Commissioner and Delaware Sports Commission member Paul Bauer.  "It brings a lot of tourism to the to the beach area for a week."

Over at Surf Bagel, Wes Books says the bagel shop looks forward to the event all year round.

"We see lots of the teams visit and we're happy to power them up before and after games," he said.

The basketball tournament is known for having big names in the basketball world play, like LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Carmelo Anthony.

Games will be happening all week.
