Allisha Gray is glad to be back playing 3x3 with an eye towards being a member of the team at the Paris Olympics this summer. She’s the only player returning from the foursome that took home the gold at the Tokyo Games three years ago. That was the inaugural appearance of the sport at the Olympics. Gray was one of eight players selected from the 15-person training camp over the weekend to participate in a 3x3 tournament in Springfield, Massachusetts at The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. She’s on a team with Dearica Hamby, Cameron Brink and Linnae Harper. The other U.S. team in the tournament features Cierra Burdick, Rhyne Howard, Lexie Hull and Hailey Van Lith.

LeBron James' anger boiled over after the Los Angeles Lakers' latest loss to the Denver Nuggets. His anger wasn't centered on the Lakers and blowing a 20-point lead in the second half or at Jamal Murray's game-winning buzzer beater to give Denver a 101-99 win. No, James was upset about the NBA's replay center reversing a foul call on the Nuggets in the second half. James said Michael Porter Jr. clearly hit D'Angelo Russell in the face and that the call shouldn't have been reversed. The Lakers are down 2-0 with the series heading to Los Angeles for Game 3 on Thursday.

Caitlin Clark will have the start of her WNBA career to show the U.S. women’s basketball selection committee whether she deserves a spot on the Paris Olympic roster. Clark couldn't attend the U.S. training camp this month in Cleveland during the Final Four because she was still playing with Iowa. Attending the camp wasn’t mandatory to make the team, but it certainly would have helped the NCAA all-time scoring leader show the selection committee whether she can hold her own against some of the best players in the world. The U.S. isn’t expected to name its roster for the Paris Games before June 1.

Michael Jordan’s new life suddenly seems just as satisfying as his old one. This felt a whole lot like M.J. knocking down a buzzer-beater, winning the big game, celebrating like a champion. Of course, his title-winning days in the NBA are long behind him. But Jordan’s current passion is filling that competitive void. For the first time since he became a NASCAR Cup team owner, Jordan was at the track to savor a victory by one of his drivers. Tyler Reddick stole a victory at Talladega Superspeedway when front-runner Michael McDowell wound up crashing with the finish line in sight.

James Harden scored 28 points, Ivica Zubac had a double-double and the Los Angeles Clippers defeated Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks 109-97 to win their playoff series opener. Zubac’s 20 points were a playoff career high to go with 15 rebounds. Harden hit 6 of 11 3-pointers and had eight assists. The Clippers outdid the Mavs at their own game, making 18 of 36 3-pointers to 10 of 33 for Dallas. Doncic led the Mavs with 33 points and 13 rebounds. Kyrie Irving added 31 points and seven rebounds. The Clippers had five players in double figures without the injured Kawhi Leonard.

Jayson Tatum notched his first career playoff triple-double with 23 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the Boston Celtics past the Miami Heat 114-94 to open their first-round playoff series. Derrick White added 20 points and four assists for Boston, which finished with six players in double-figures. Miami spoiled the Celtics’ NBA finals dreams last season. But Boston fed off the energy of the TD Garden crowd, knocking down 22 3-pointers and outscoring the Heat 31-14 in the third quarter. The Celtics’ lead grew as high as 34 points in the fourth. Bam Adebayo scored 24 points for the Miami, which played without star Jimmy Butler following his right knee injury during the play-in round.
