(SHOWELL, MD.) A Worchester Family was out of town when an early morning fire destroyed their home. It broke out before two this morning on Pitts Road.

Showell resident Eric Gillen was the first one who saw the flames and called 911.

" I peeked outside and saw some flames in the distance so I thought it was bigger than a campfire and I drove down here and it looked like the bottom floor was on fire and within twenty minutes the second floor was on fire and then the roof," said Gillen.

Dominic Periz and his family stayed at this residence. His family was not home as they were out of town.

Perez tells WRDE that he lost everything in the fire and is dealing with this tough situation.

Crews from Showell, as well as Ocean Pines, Bishopville, Selbyville, rushed to the scene.

The Fire Marshall's Office is investigating.
