(Salisbury, Md) - The Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services will be offering about 50 jobs to Eastern Shore residents at a Career Expo in Salisbury on Saturday, June 10 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event will be held in the parking lot of the WalMart Super Center Pavilion at 2702 N. Salisbury Boulevard and feature a demonstration by the department's K-9 detection unit.

The correctional officer openings at Eastern Correctional Institution include dietary and maintenance positions. The annual starting salary for the jobs is $38,000 and the positions offer excellent health and pension benefits, including the ability to retire after 20 years of service.

The effort is part of department Secretary Stephen T. Moyer's "Operation Hire" campaign. After taking office two years ago, Moyer started a statewide recruiting effort to bolster the ranks of the department and fill critical vacancies.

A benefit to Saturday's event will be same day application and testing for candidates. Those seeking more information can call: 410-585-3060.
