(SALISBURY, Md.) - In Salisbury, a former martial arts instructor is facing child sex abuse charges after police say he had inappropriate contact with some of his instructees.

According to court paperwork, 26-year-old Zachariah Bennett faces 27 charges related to those sexual offenses.

Police say he is accused of sexually abusing some of his former students at Mitchell's Martial Arts.

Some nearby business owners are shocked."Well, I have young children, a six-year old and a three-year old, so it's very frightening. I had thought about sending my six-year-old over there, and I am glad I didn't," said Amanda Ketterman, an employee at Peninsula Eye Center.

Bennett's prelimary hearing is set for November 10th.

This is the second time in five years that an instructor at Mitchell's Martial Arts has faced charges in connection with a minor.

Court documents show in 2011, 45-year-old David Gunzburg was convicted of sexual solicitation of a minor.
