(Pittsville, Md.) - Shawna Louise Hournbuckle is charged with second degree murder after police say she stabbed boyfriend Jeremy Joseph Nolin in the chest Wednesday, April 27, 2016.

Although the stabbing happened Wednesday night, police did not receive a 911 call until around 3 p.m. Thursday. Upon arrival, that's when Hournbuckle told police the two had a physical altercation, which resulted in Nolin being stabbed in the chest. Police would not confirm if it was Hournbuckle who made the call.

Neighbors tell WRDE the two had a rather dysfunctional relationship and were often heard fighting. But Laura Basile who lives down the street says it wasn't usually something to worry about.

"They would take walks together, they would walk the dog, they would go to Dollar General, they would walk together sometimes hand in hand, but always together," explained Basile. "So, that's the thing... you'd think they were getting along and everything was fine."

"I knew they had their problems, but I never had an inkling that it was somewhat that bad," said Jason Ennis, neighbor.

Ennis says he and Nolin used to work together. Since then, the two became good friends with Nolin even renting a room out to Ennis.

"He was definitely a nice guy. He looked out for me during a real rough time," said Ennis.

Not much could be said about Hournbuckle.

"She was just different. You know, she wasn't always with it sometimes," said Basile.

Hournbuckle is currently behind held at the Wicomico County Detention Center. She is being charged with second degree murder, manslaughter, first and second degree assault, and dangerous/deadly weapon with intent to injure.

The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate this case.
