(MARYDEL, Md.) - The Maryland State Fire Marshal's office is investigating an attempted arson of a home in Caroline County committed Monday evening.

Fire investigators said at around 7:12 p.m. gasoline was poured around the rear exterior of William Basquez's home on the 19000 block of Crown Stone Road in Marydel. After Basquez discovered the fire, the Marydel Volunteer Fire Department responded with a crew of 30 firefighters.

The fire marshal said it took four to five hours to extinguish the fire. According to investigators, no arrests have been made at this time. Anyone with information regarding the attempted arson should contact the Upper Eastern Regional Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal at 410-822-7609.
