(SALISBURY, Md.)- A deputy of Wicomico County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported altercation at a residence in the 200 block of Phillip Morris Drive in Salisbury.

Upon arrival, the deputy discovered that a five year old child had reportedly been assaulted by Kyle Burford.

During the investigation the deputy learned that Burford was upset because the juvenile was playing with Burford's Pokémon cards.

It is alleged that Burford struck the child hard enough to knock him off his feet and into a wall.

The deputy also learned that Burford is the child's uncle and they reside in the same house.

The deputy placed Burford under arrest and transported him to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner.

Following an initial appearance, the Commissioner detained Burford in the Detention Center in lieu of $20,000.00 bond.
