(Salisbury, Md) - Earlier this morning, Officers of the Salisbury Police department were called to respond to the area of W. Salisbury

Parkway and Lake Street for a subject who was trying to kill himself by jumping off the bridge into the Wicomico River.

The investigation revealed that the victim had contacted 911 and told the operators that he was going to jump off the

bridge and into the water in an effort to kill himself. Officers were able to respond quickly and locate the 28 year old victim

standing at the edge of the bridge. Over the course of several minutes, officers were able to engage the victim in conversation to

keep him from jumping. The victim then decided he was going to jump into the water.

After jumping into the water, the victim began to struggle. Officers jumped into the water to save the victim from

drowning. The victim was safely removed from the water without further incident and transported to Peninsula Regional

Medical Center where he will be evaluated.
