(SALISBURY, Md.) - A man is left hospitalized after a late night shooting in Salisbury on the 100-block of Delaware Avenue.

Police identify the man as 24-year-old Shawn Dion Woodford of Salisbury.

According to authorities, Woodford with a group of men when an argument erupted.

One single gunshot was fired, leaving one bullet in the victim's back.

When police arrived at the scene around 11 p.m. the suspect had already fled on foot.

He was transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center and the extent of his injuries are unknown at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.

Police describe the suspect as an African American male approximately 6 ft. tall with a large build.

He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and black pants.

Neighbors think the violence is getting out of control.

"This violence is just crazy. It's just outrageous. Where some people are scared to walk outside. Or even look this way or look that way. When somebody look at you, you're scared you might get shot," expressed a neighbor who didn't want to be named.

This shooting comes as three suspects were arrested in the murder of 17-year-old Rakim Russell.

Russell was shot early Sunday morning, Aug. 2 in the parking lot of the America's Best Value Inn in Salisbury.

This week, 20-year-old Larry Ennis was indicted on 14 charges in that murder.

The other two suspects, Ky'shir Connally and Jarrett Stokes are expected to face a grand jury soon.

"The wrong people have the guns. And they shooting for no reason, it's just crazy! Go to school, do your work, and get a good job! Leave the violence alone," explained a neighbor.

The investigation for the murder of 21-year-old Dommier Deshields is currently ongoing.

Deshields was shot 5 times on Monday, Aug. 3 on the 700-block of Church St.

A suspect in this homicide has yet to be named.
