(RICHMOND, Va.)- The Virginia Senate has approved a medical marijuana bill that would legalize two strains of oil from a marijuana plant.

The oil would be used as an alternative treatment for those who suffer from epilepsy.

The bill was passed with a 37-1 vote, after members of the Senate listened to testimonies from families who have children who are battling the disease.

Now, the bill will have to pass the House with a two thirds majority. If it passes, it would then head to the Governor.

Currently in Virginia, medical marijuana can only be used for the treatment of cancer and glaucoma.
