(DEWEY BEACH, Del.) - A new merged non-profit organization was stationed at the Lion's Club's Community Day on Saturday. A Wave of Healthy Meals aims to help nourish cancer patients.

On June 12th, A Wave of Healthy Meals will launch an 8 week session and begin preparing healthy meals in the Dewey Beach Lions Club's kitchen. This will happen every Wednesday. Delivery Angels will then come take the food to the cancer patients during their chemo and radiation treatments to help make them feel better.

Executive Director, Denise Vansant says the goal is to make healthy and tasty meals that fit into the patients' restricted diets. "Right now we're starting out with 3 entrees, 3 sides, salad, and a healthy dessert, so that will cover them," she says. "Most cancer patients in the beginning don't have a huge appetite."

Vansant names a dish she's excited about. "A very healthy grassfed herbal meat loaf," she says. "They're mini meatloafs and that's going to be paired with mashed cauliflower and turnip."

The organization is looking for more Delivery Angels. Visit awaveofhealthymeals.weebly.com to sign up and for more inforamtion about the organization's mission.
