(LEWES, Del.) - In the midst of the Lewes Tulip Celebration, the Lewes Historical Society hosts another event Sunday afternoon.

History buffs from and visiting Lewes walked through the Cannonball House Maritime Museum to commemorate the 206th anniversary of when the British bombarded Lewes during the War of 1812. The cannonball house is the sole survivor of the 22-hour long bombardment and to show, it has a cannonball embedded in its foundation.

Tulips are planted behind the building as part of the 2019 Lewes Tulip Celebration.
