Lewes - Two eight-ounce artillery shells brought several law enforcement agencies to Cape Henlopen State Park Thursday night. The incident started around 6:30 PM when an woman drove to the Park to donate some artifacts she had. The shells were discovered in those items causing the Delaware Natural Resources Police to take action.

Over the next two hours the shells were in the process of being packaged for delivery to the Dover Air Force Base. "They are in unknown condition," DNRP Capt. Steve Savidge said. The Delaware State Explosive Team and the Air Force Explosive Team out of Dover Air Force Base responded once it was determined the shells had the potential to be unexploded.
