SUSSEX COUNTY, Del.- Lotto players are hoping lottery lightning strikes twice--or three times--in Sussex County for Wednesday night's $750 million Powerball jackpot.

Both Atlantic Liquors in Rehoboth Beach and the Goose Creek store in Fenwick Island sold $1 million lottery tickets in 2019. Atlantic Liquors sold a $1 million Mega Millions ticket in January, whereas Goose Creek sold a $1 million Powerball ticket in early March.

"It makes it more popular," says Goose Creek Manager Stacey Joseph. "There's more people coming in, a lot more people that I don't see everyday because usually it's regular customers. It's pretty exciting."

Regular Charlie Herbert bought his Powerball ticket Wednesday morning, specifically at Goose Creek because of the store's winning ways.

"It's just an amazing, amazing lottery game here. Just phenomenal numbers," he tells WRDE. "[I] just cannot imagine or fathom having money of that nature in my life so I'm hoping I get lucky."

Powerball officials say Wednesday night's cash option is an estimated $465.5 million. Many hope to see that money here at home.

"I just hope that whoever wins it's going to be somewhere in Delaware," says Atlantic Liquors Manager Sissy Morrison. "We are a small state but we would like to be a big winner in this state."

Powerball says Wednesday night's jackpot is the fourth largest lottery in U.S. history.
