BETHANY BEACH, Del.- Some major roadways in the Bethany Beach area are scheduled for six weeks of repairs.

The Delaware Department of Transportation plans to repave and improve Fred Hudson Road from Central Avenue to Route One, Central Avenue between the Assawoman Canal Bridge and Taylor Drive, and then Vines Creek Road from Swamp Road to Helm Street in Dagsboro. The three phase project is funded by the state and is part of routine maintenance, DelDOT says.

DelDOT says the roadwork is scheduled to last from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Pending weather, the work will start Monday March 4th and last until April 12th, though the Fred Hudson and Central Avenue parts of the project should be complete in mid to late March.

DelDOT Area Engineer Sarah Powell says the Vines Creek part of the project includes adding ADA ramps and pedestrian improvements that should last for about two weeks.

The work will create lane and shoulder closures, and drivers should expect delays, says DelDOT. For more information, click here.
