(Millville, Del.)-17,000 Delawareans are currently suffering from Alzheimer's and those numbers are expected to increase 35% by 2025. That is according to the After The Centers For Disease Control.

Michael Loftus has been committed the last several years to raise money for the Alzheimer's Association with his Annual Athletes Against Alzheimer's 5 K that happens in early August. On Wednesday Loftus handed a check to Jamie Magee who is the program coordinator for the Sussex County Branch.

"We thoroughly are so proud of him and he has gone above and beyond and he does most of this himself and he wants to honor his dad who had Alzheimer's and my dad had Alzheimer's so it was one of the things where there are so many people that can associate with it and he gets a really good response, said Magee.
