(Lewes, Del.) - For two days savannah road at the entrance to the Lewes City limits will be closed due to the removal of the railroad crossing. Bob Perrine with Del Dot is the project manager.

"It is part of a greater project to remove all the rail crossing that is part of the rail line that the state of Delaware decommissioned so we will start at Savannah which is one of the more difficult crossings," said Perrine.

It is the main highway to Lewes so they needed to start before Memorial Day. They will be working under the lights to get the job done quickly.

"We will get in and get the rails out and do a full depth reconstruction and open the roadway back up and that is the general idea to open up these few," said Perrine.
