(DAGSBORO, Del.)- Delaware State Police are currently investigating a serious motor vehicle crash that occurred Sunday afternoon just east of Dagsboro.

Police say the crash occurred just before 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, 2016, as Mary E. Bradshaw, 88, of Dagsboro, was operating a 2008 Mercury Sable, and was traveling in an eastbound direction on Vines Creek Road (SR 26), approaching the intersection of Falling Point Road (CR 341), Dagsboro.

As Bradshaw reached the intersection, she failed to see a 2012 Kia Forte, which was stopped directly in front of her, and which was being operated by Ruth N. Elvey, 87, of Dagsboro. The front of Bradshaw's vehicle then struck the rear of the Kia. After impact, both vehicles exited the south edge of the roadway where they came to rest.

Elvey, who was properly restrained at the time of the crash, was treated at the scene by Sussex County Paramedics. She was then transported by EMS to Beebe Healthcare before being air-lifted to the Christiana Hospital where she was admitted in critical condition.

Bradshaw was also properly restrained at the time of the crash. She was treated at the scene by Sussex County Paramedics before being transported by EMS to Beebe Healthcare where she was admitted with non-life threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police.
