(TOWNSEND, Del.) - The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a single vehicle crash that killed Jeffrey M. Mesh, 37 of Georgetown.

The incident occurred around 1:05 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2016, as Mesh was operating a 2014 Ford F150 pick up northbound on Saw Mill Road south of Vandyke Greenspring Road, entered a right curve. Police say Mesh failed to negotiate the curve and traveled off the west side of the roadway rotating clockwise. The vehicle then struck a large tree and continued in a northerly direction where it struck a split rail fence before coming to a stop.

Police say Mesh was the lone occupant of the vehicle and was not properly restrained. He was partially ejected through the passenger window and pronounced dead at the scene by New Castle County Paramedics.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident. Alcohol may have been a factor in this case. Saw Mill Road was closed for approximately three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
