(REHOBOTH BEACH, Del.)- Saturday's Halloween "Boo-b-que" brought in the funds for the "Child in Nature" organization dedicated to getting kids outside and active.

Program Coordinator John Hollis said he cooked up this idea to bring together his two loves- children and bbq.

"Right now children spend 35 hours a week in front of some sort of screen," Hollis said. "Right now children's health is not so bright because of childhood obesity. We want them to get out and get active. This event promotes that to happen and show off our Delaware State Parks."

Kids enjoyed pumpkin painting, bounce houses and all kinds of games to get up and moving.

All Bar-b-que was judged by panels and voted for the best flavor. The winner of the contest will win a trophy for their best cooking.

John Hollis said he is not sure how much the event brought to the table, but with flavors from all over the country he told WRDE News it was a success.
