(WALLOPS ISLAND, Va.) - After many scrubbed launches, NASA has successfully launched the Terrier-Lynx suborbital rocket from the Eastern Shore early Sunday morning.

The rocket for the Department of Defense was launched at 12:27 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 12, from its Wallops Island Flight Facility in Accomack County.

The rocket launch, postponed previously from August, will be carrying items for the DOD.

According to Wallops, the next scheduled launch from Wallops is Orbital Sciences' Antares rocket carrying its Cygnus cargo carrier to the International Space Station at 7:52 p.m., Friday, October 24. This launch should be highly visible to residents in the mid-Atlantic region.
