REHOBOTH BEACH, Del - Work on the Rehoboth Beach drawbridge is scheduled to begin Monday night.  The first phase of the Delaware Department of Transportation project includes sandblasting its underside.  The work will take place at night during times that will have the least impact on traffic.
"I think we have worked it out in such a fashion that we will try to minimize as much as possible the effect on the community," Rehoboth Beach Mayor Paul Kuhns told WRDE.
Also expected in the project:
- Replacing the drive that raises and lowers the drawbridge
- Upgrading the bridge's mechanical and electrical systems
- Coating steel structural components
There will be no work the night of July 3.  That is the night of the city's fireworks display.  No work is also scheduled for July 4.  The city expects the project to run through next year.
