LEWES, Del.- The first Indian Restaurant in the First Town in the First State is now open for business.

Raas is creating Indian-Fusion cuisine in a historic Queen Anne Victorian home located at 210 Savannah Road. The restaurant was brought to life by a group of investors, many of them doctors, and Chef Gyanendra "GG" Gupta.

The restaurant stresses serving food that is both healthy and delicious.

"Most of the investors are doctors so our idea was to provide healthy options to people [and] at the same time enjoy the food," says Board Director Jagruti Patel. "All the ingredients that we use have some healthy story behind it."
Chef GG Gupta comes to Raas after a career as a world class chef, including working at international hotel chain Taj Hotels. Organizers say the opening is a dream come true.
"It means a lot. In 52 years I haven't had Indian food served to me," says
Rajani Purandare, one of Raas' founders.
