DELAWARE- The deadline for the "Keep Off the Dunes Project" is quickly approaching.

September 2 is the deadline for entries in the DNREC’s Shoreline & Waterway Management Section’s “Keep Off the Dunes” signage contest. According to DNREC, "the public is invited to submit eye-catching and effective original artwork and messaging to remind beachgoers of the importance of protecting Delaware’s vibrant but fragile dune system."

Coastal Dunes are vital to protecting land from storms and extreme weather conditions. To keep the dunes strong, DNREC has one simple task. Don't go on or place anything on the dunes! DNREC emphasizes this message by posting beach signs to encourage beach-goers to use provided crossovers along the dune system to avoid damaging the dunes.
