DOVER, Del.- In recognition of the 30th anniversary of National Recovery Month, the Delaware Department of Transportation has lit the Indian River Inlet Bridge and the Route 1 toll plazas purple.

"Mental and substance abuse disorders continue to be a major issue in our state and country and DelDOT is proud to support those in all stages of recovery," Secretary of Transportation Jennifer Cohan said.

National Recovery Month is a national observance held every September to educate Americans that substance use treatment and mental health services can enable those struggling to live a healthy and rewarding life.

Delaware's Secretary of the Department of Health and Social Services, Dr. Kara Odom Walker, is reminding people in the state to reach out for help by calling the 27/7 Crisis Intervention Hotlines. In northern Delaware, call 800-652-2929. In southern Delaware, call 800-345-6785.
