Winter Safety Tips
LEWES, Del.- AS WE HEAD INTO THE WINTER, IT IS IMPORTANT TO ALWAYS BE PREPARED IN THE COLD, ESPECIALLY ON DAYS LIKE TODAY.
Make sure your car is in good shape by inflating your tires and ensuring you have proper coolant inside the car, like antifreeze.
Orlando Herrera from Meineke says, "There's a sticker on every vehicle's door. On the driver's side, there's a sticker that tells you how much [air] goes in there. You don't want to over inflate because there will be less traction for the tires to grab on to."
Also, don't forget to warm it up in the mornings, and have fresh wiper blades because they do not last very long.
It's also important to know that our pets get cold, just like we do.
"If you have pets that stay outside a lot of the time, you're going to want to bring them in when it gets cold like it is now. when you take them for a walk you may want to shorten the length of the walk a bit because if you're feeling cold they're probably feeling cold," says Chris Farrall, the senior operations manager for Brandywine Valley SPCA.
Pet stores sell jackets that can give animals a little extra warmth when they do have to go outside.
