GEORGETOWN, Del.- People in Delaware arrived at the Georgetown Division of Motor Vehicles at 6 a.m. and pitched tents at the Dover DMV for the release of the 5 digit license place.

Ann Kurtz's she arrived at the Georgetown DMV at 7:15 a.m. Kurtz says when she arrived the line was around the building. Ann's son Vince Kurtz says he wanted to get his hands on a 5 digit license plate to fit in with the crowed.

"We just realized everyone here had the black license plates. We decided we needed to get the new ones to fit in," explains Kurtz.

The Delaware division of motor vehicles say they issued two new license plates. One of them is a six digit tag made out of stainless steel. The six digit tag can be any number under 200,000. The other tag is a five digit tag made out of porcelain. The five digit tag can be any number under 87,000. The DMV says both of these license plates cost $115. The Delaware DMV says there are only a limited number of five digit tags available to the public. Charles Gourley of the Dover DMV, says you must be present to put a tag on hold or it have processed on your registration. Gourley says some people want the tags for reasons closer to their hearts.

"For some people it's not a valued thing but it's a sentimental thing. Some people inherit their license plate tags from their family and pass it down," says Gourley.

Some people says this new tag is perfect for a early Christmas present.

"I have wanted this tag for a long time and my boyfriend knew I wanted it," says Ann Drummond.

However others say they rather save some cash before the holidays.

"I have two daughters, a two year old and a one month old. I rather spend the money on getting them Christmas gifts this year. I will come back later after the holidays to get a black tag," explains Joshua Jackson.

If you are driving around Delaware, you will probably see more black and white shiny tags in the first state.
