Millsboro Approves Plan to Open Grotto Pizza on Route 113
MILLSBORO, Del. - Grotto Pizza is heading to Millsboro. On Monday, the town gave preliminary approval for Grotto Pizza to build a new location in Millsboro on Route 113.
Grotto Pizza’s Vice President says it’s great for the restaurant to be in Millsboro.
“Millsboro has been a targeted area that we have felt very strongly about, that it would be a high growth area...A lot of our long term customers are from the area...We think we have a really strong presence of support in that town and that community,” says Vice President of Grotto Pizza, Jeff Gosnear.
He says for the first time they will have more interactive areas, games, fire pits, and lounging areas for the bar.
The restaurant will be next to Royal Farms right off of route 113.
The town surveyed the community, and Sheldon Hudson says the results showed that people wanted more sit down restaurants, specifically sports bars and steak houses.
Hudson says Millsboro is number one in the county for economic growth.
“The town is definitely well-known to be more pro-business and pro-family in the area and I think that's definitely enhancing our growth. We've seen a lot of success on the retail and restaurant front in recent years," says Hudson.
There's one remaining parcel left that fronts 113. Hudson says they are working on a steakhouse, and department stores like Target or Kohl’s, shoe stores, women’s clothing, and grocery stores.
Gosnear says the Millsboro location will be their 23rd location, and their 17th in Delaware.
He hopes the restaurant will open in December of 2020.
