SUSSEX COUNTY, Del. - Get ready for a festive weekend! From wreath-laying ceremonies to tree decorating events, there are heartwarming events happening all along the coast.Â
WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA DAY
National Wreaths Across America Day is on Saturday. Rehoboth Beach Main Street and Rehoboth Beach Homeowners Association invite everyone to come to Epworth Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. to help lay wreaths on the graves of more than 180 veterans who are buried there. In Millsboro, the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery is holding its annual ceremony and wreath-laying starting at 10:30 a.m.
MILTON TREE DECORATING EVENT
A festive tree decorating event in Milton is happening this Sunday at 3 p.m. in Mill Park. It is part of a public art initiative by the town's Economic Development Commission. Trees will be decorated by Mariner Middle, H.O. Brittingham Elementary, and Milton Elementary students. The family-friendly decorating party will include hot chocolate and treats, compliments of SipUrban Farmhouse and holiday music supplied by Jeff Evans.
HISPANIC HERITAGE EVENT IN MILTON
The Milton Public Library is turning into a cultural destination this weekend. The 2023 Hispanic Heritage Event is set for Saturday from noon to 4. The event offers a statewide and community organization vendor fair, networking opportunities, along with cultural entertainment, foods, and activities designed to teach about the culture.Â
Organizers say there will be special performances by world-renowned Dayan Aldana, a professional singing artist originally from Peru, and the Casa Guanajuato Dance Group.
The Friends of the Milton Public Library, in collaboration with the Milton Library Staff, Charito Calvachi-Mateyko, Dr. Christine Cannon of the Arsht Cannon Fund and the Delaware Hispanic Commission have worked together to provide this cultural event.Â
HOLIDAY PET ADOPTION SPECIAL
The Humane Animal Partners is hosting a "Home for the Howlidays" pet adoption special. Adoption fees for all of its adult animals will be half off and select animals will have waived adoption fees through Sunday.
MILTON THEATRE POLAR EXPRESS AND COMEDY
Grab tickets to the Milton Theatre's Polar Express Pajama Party and screening on Saturday at 11 a.m. or 2 p.m. The theatre's Jingle Laughs: Holiday Stand-up Comedy Spectacular is on at 8 that night.
SOUTHERN DELAWARE ORCHESTRA: HOLIDAY CONCERT
The Southern Delaware Orchestra is performing its holiday concert at Epworth United Methodist Church on Saturday.
REHOBOTH CONCERT BAND: HOLIDAY PEACE CELEBRATION
The Rehoboth Concert Band's Holiday Peace Celebration is at Cape High School on Sunday.
