Georgetown garage fire

The garage was on McColleys Chapel Road in Georgetown. Officials say the fire accidentally spread from a controlled burn in the vicinity. 

GEORGETOWN, Del. - A fire Thursday afternoon has left one garage badly damaged.

The Office of the Delaware State Fire Marshal said the fire was reported shortly after 2:30 p.m. First responders from multiple agencies arrived to find heavy smoke and fire. The building, a detached garage on McColleys Chapel Road, was unoccupied at the time. There were no reported injuries.

An investigation revealed the cause was accidental, spreading from a nearby controlled burn. Damage is estimated at $50,000.
