REHOBOTH BEACH, De - A Wednesday night fire in a three story town home in the Sawgrass Community required assistance from several fire companies along the coast.

It was reported just before 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at 21279 Catalina Circle.

A spokesperson with the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company says when crews arrived, the second and third floors were on fire. Lewes and Indian River firefighters assisted Rehoboth.

RBVFC says the fire was under control in about 30 minutes. Crews were on scene for almost 3 hours and kept the fire from spreading to other units. Bethany Beach and Milton firefighters covered the area while crews worked on scene.

No injuries were reported. Firefighters say no one was home at the time of the fire, but they were able to rescue a family dog that was in the unit and alert neighbors to evacuate.

The Delaware State Fire Marshall is investigating to find out what caused the fire and how much damage was caused.
