DELMAR, Md. - A funeral service for Delmar student Carter Figgs will take place on Sunday, Oct. 15 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Delmar High School.
Interment will follow the funeral service in St. Stephen's Cemetery in Delmar.
Figgs passed away at 16-years-old on Oct. 7 after he was killed in a car crash. Figgs was a student of Delmar High School, where he played for its varsity football team, wrestling squad, and baseball team. You can find out more about Figgs here.
The Delmar School District expressed its gratitude for the support received during this time on Facebook. The district says, "The Delmar School District would like to thank our local Sussex County schools and Wicomico County schools who have shown an outpouring of love for Wildcat Country students and staff by wearing our school colors throughout this week. A special thank you to the Laurel School District for the fundraiser they will hold tomorrow night at their home football game in support of the Figgs and Powell family. #delmarstrong."
The Short Funeral Home says memorial donations may be made in memory of Figgs to the Delmar Athletic Booster Club on 200 N. 8th St. in Delmar.
