Puppies Available For Adoption After So-called Puppy Mill Bust

(SALISBURY, Md.)- The Humane Society of Wicomico County has announced that more of the 310 dogs rescued during a puppy mill raid in Eden will be available for adoption Friday, April 29.

The director of the Humane Society said the facility was able to reach this point with the help of groomers who volunteered their services.

"We would also like to thank the Humane Society of the United States for their assistance as well," said Aaron T. Balsamo, Executive Director of Humane Society of Wicomico County. "We would once again like to thank the entire community and surrounding areas for their generous donations."

The facility has received so many donations that it had to get temporary storage for the supplies.

Balsamo said some of the dogs were handed over to Somerset Animal Control, Worcester Animal Control, Last Chance Pet Rescue, First State SPCA, Wags N' Wishes, the Animal Resource Foundation, Talbot Humane, and Baywater Animal Rescue for adoption.

Each animal has to be examined, vaccinated, groomed, micro chipped, and spay/neutered before it can be adopted.

Court documents obtained by the WRDE Newsroom links Susan and Robert Murphy, of Eden, Md. to the Wicomico County puppy raid.

No charges have been filed yet, according to the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office.
