MARYLAND - The average cost of Thanksgiving dinner for 2023 has decreased since last year, according to the American Farm Bureau. 

According to the American Farm Bureau, the average cost of a meal for 10 people is $61.17, which translates to less than $6.20 per person. 

There is a 4.5 percent decrease in cost from last year's record-high average of $64.05. However, according to the American Farm Bureau, the cost of a Thanksgiving meal is still 25 percent higher than it was in 2019. 

In terms of nationwide averages, the Maryland Farm Bureau reports that the state finds itself situated in the region of the United States with the highest average cost for the classic Thanksgiving meal. According to the Maryland Farm Bureau, the Northeast, encompassing Maryland, tops the list as the most expensive with an average cost of $64.38.

“We continue to encourage Marylanders to support our state’s thriving agricultural industry throughout the holiday season," said Wayne Stafford, President of Maryland Farm Bureau.
