COASTTV'S MATT PENCEK: "You know, we've got people who are running, who are not running. Right now, I've got you on the list of people who aren't running, unless you have breaking news for me."

SEN. TOM CARPER: "No, no, no, no. I've had a great, great run. For over 20 years in the Navy, and a chance to be Delaware's treasurer, a congressman, governor, senator and lead the National Governors Association and chair a couple of committees in the Senate... When I got to chair the Senate Committee on Environmental Public Works we wrote large parts of the bipartisan infrastructure bill, a lot of the legislation to help make sure that we're taking care of these beaches all the way from the Maryland line up to north of Lewes, trying to make sure that, since we're the lowest lying state in the country and seas around us are rising and we're sinking, if we don't do something serious about climate change and sea level rise, our number one and number two industries, which are agriculture and tourism, we were going to be in real trouble."

"The people say, 'why do you spend so much time on climate change?' Well, it's a matter of survival for us and our two biggest industries. The other reason is, we raise more chickens here than, I think, any state in the country. For every person who lives here, I think there are 200 chickens, so agriculture is huge. We raise a lot of soybeans and corn. I want to make sure that we're going to be able to feed the world and provide a lot of jobs for folks at the same time and provide great places for folks to come on their vacations."
